Friday’s (June 7) harness racing feature at Yonkers Raceway was the $39,000 Fillies & Mares Invitational Pace, and Dougs Babe A (Western Terror) and driver Austin Siegelman led through fractions of :26.3, :55, 1:23.2, then held on through the lane to win by a nose over pocket-sitter Coachellabound N (Jason Bartlett). Golden Quest N (George Brennan) collected third.
A 7-year-old mare, Dougs Babe A is trained by Nifty Norman for owners Tom Vassiliou, Nicholas Tallarico and Enzed Racing Stable Inc. This was her 21st career win, she has now earned $431,963 and she paid $9.90 to win as a 7-2 offering. The exacta was worth $39.80, and the trifecta kicked back $93.00.
DOUGS BABE A REPLAY
There were no winning tickets in the Pick 5 sequence on Friday night at Yonkers Raceway, leading to a $4,507.82 carryover and a $15,000 guaranteed pool in the wager on Saturday night’s (June 8) program.
The guarantee in the Pick 5 is being offered as part of the United States Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program. Free past performances for the Pick 5, courtesy of TrackMaster, will be available here. The Pick 5, which begins in race five, has a takeout rate of 20 percent.
