Late racing luck for Meadows feature winner

WASHINGTON, PA, Oct. 26, 2023 — It appeared that Dover Glide (Dover Dan-Classic Glide) would be rewarded for his grueling trip with a place finish. But when the leader, Smokinhotirishgirl, broke stride near the wire, Dover Glide kept right on gliding to capture Thursday’s harness racing feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, an $11,500 Conditioned Trot.

Dover Glide was parked the first quarter before finding a seat fourth, then challenged first over from there for Mike Wilder. That little bit of late racing luck brought him the victory in a career-best 1:56.3. Kannects Benedict was second in the Lightning Lane, 1-1/4 lengths back, while the third-place finish of Smokinhotirishgirl was reviewed and confirmed by the judges.

J.L. Adams trains Dover Glide, a 3-year-old gelding, for Martin Valentic and McKenna Adams.

Jeremy Indof piloted three winners on the 13-race card, including a pair for trainer Dirk Simpson.
