WASHINGTON, PA, Sept. 28, 2021 — Harness racing driver Chris Shaw was transported to a local hospital for evaluation following an accident in Tuesday’s third race at The Meadows.
The mishap occurred when Susy Finn, piloted by James Dodson, took a bad step entering the far turn and fell to the track. Willy The Fillie, with Shaw aboard, could not avoid the fallen horse and also fell, flipping Shaw from the bike. Dodson bounced to his feet quickly but later was scheduled for examination for injuries.
The conditions of the drivers and horses will be updated as information becomes available.
LYDEO REPLAY (accident race, please do not watch if squeamish)
In other racing action on the afternoon, D P Rocket was parked the entire opening quarter and pressured even after she crossed over, but she was up to each challenge as she captured Tuesday’s feature at The Meadows, a $10,300 Filly & Mare Conditioned Trot.
Once D P Rocket made the front, she still had to deal with Tamar, who pressed on for the lead. But the 5-year-old daughter of All In Tad-Striking Annie was able to seat Tamar and score in 1:55.3 for Mike Wilder. Harness AM, the winner’s stablemate, finished second, beaten 1-1/4 lengths, with Luvcrunchess third.
D P ROCKET REPLAY
D P Rocket lifted her career bankroll to $166,668 for Mark Goldberg, who trains the top two finishers for Rags To Riches Of PA.
It was one of four wins on the 12-race card for Wilder while trainer Brandon Presto enjoyed a triple.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday when the 13-race program features a $5,018.83 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 PM.
