Dragon Roll sprouted metaphorical wings in the Yonkers Raceway harness racing feature pace on Wednesday as he went from last at three-quarters to victory lane.
Jason Bartlett discarded any ideas of contesting the pace from post seven and dropped Dragon Roll to last entering the first turn. Stowaway Hanover (Tyler Buter) won the top spot after a parked-out first panel and set fractions of :27, :56, and 1:25 as the race leader. Dragon Roll continued trailing through those splits and was third over as the field of seven angled into the final bend.
Stowaway Hanover kicked away to a four-length gap entering the stretch, but it wasnāt enough to stop an energized Dragon Roll. The latter nailed Stowaway Hanover under the light of the wire after passing all other foes to win by a neck in 1:54.3.
Stowaway Hanoverās heart was broken in second. Laurie Lee (Jordan Stratton) came from sixth to finish third. The winner was a mild upset at a price of $13.30.
