The Per Engblom trainee finished fourth in her local debut last week (Nov 18) and on Monday afternoon, the six year old went off at odds of 5-1 in what wound up being a five-horse Open after a host of scratches.

Dragons Lucky Lady made her move from fourth approaching the half mile pole and just overpowered the leader in a third quarter that she paced in 27 seconds. Opening up a big lead past three quarters in 1:24.2, Dragons Lucky Lady held off a late bid from rival Alittlesidehustl N (Billy Dobson) to score in 1:53.1 to record her fifth win of the season in what has been another six-figure campaign for the Engblom trainee.

The favored Remy Brown N (Mark Beckwith) got shuffled a bit before shaking loose late to finish third in the $15,000 Open. Dragons Lucky Lady paid $12.00 to win in the mild upset.

The talented invader is owned in partnership by Brian Gordon and the Morrison Racing Stables. The score in the Open was the second winner on the card for Per Engblom whose Flower Shops prevailed in a $10,000 race for condition mares. That three year old filly was piloted to her Monday victory by Leon Bailey.

Live racing continues on Tuesday afternoon at Saratoga with a matinee that begins at 12pm.
