In the fines and suspensions reported to the USTA last week the main standout belongs to harness racing driver Jack Pelling.
Apparently at Freehold Raceway after a race, Mr. Pelling did strike the horse āMagazine Themeā with his driving whip while exiting the racetrack and drove the horse into the exterior wall of the detention building creating a dangerous situation for the horses and licensees in the paddock area, as well as, disturbing the peace.
After the race, there were numerous marks observed on the rear of the horse Magazine Theme. Mr. Pelling has been fined $2,000 and suspended for 180 days.
There were numerous fines reaching $1,000 and positive tests for Flunixin, Minoxidil, Oxymorphone, Phenylbutazone and Pregabalin.
