Dover, DE – Three $20,000 divisions of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund went forward at Dover Downs Wednesday (Nov. 17) to earn their places in next week’s $100,000 final for two-year-old pacing fillies, led off by two early non-wagering events and the second half of the Daily Double.

The first non-wagering event was taken by Shabby Chic (Badlands Hanover-Stylish Artist) winning by seven and one-quarter lengths in 1:55.2 for driver Tim Tetrick and keeping her undefeated status intact.

Trained by Mike Hall for owner and breeder the Let It Ride Stables of Florida. Followed by Celia (Art Stafford,Jr.) and Clean Up Hitter (Rich Borowsky) for the show.

The second non-wagering race was more green and gold colors but this time it was the “Captain” Corey Callahan coming first over with Odds On Surfer Gal (Badlands Hanover-Odds On Moinet) in 1:55.2 for the powerhouse trainer, Tony Alagna, and owner and breeder Odds On Racing of Florida.

Second was Bluff’s Crush (Montrell Teague) and Cowgirl Coffee (Tim Tetrick).

Second half of the Daily Double was Bank The Win (Roddy’s Bags Again-Winbak Patty) a repeating winner from last week in a new lifetime record of 1:54.3 winning wire to wire by 14Q for driver and co-owner Victory Kirby. Trained by co-owner Bryan Truitt and also co-owned Bryan J. Truitt,Jr. The breeder is Winbak Farm. Second was RJ’s Angel (Ross Wolfenden) and third was Donna’s The Best (Tim Tetrick).

BANK THE WIN REPLAY

The top eight point getters return on Thanksgiving Eve, November 24th for the $100,000 final.

Today is the 78th birthday of Delaware Sports Hall of Fame and retired Delaware reinsman, Eddie Davis. He won 8,632 races and over $50 million in purses. He still trains mostly youngsters but is well health wise and still admired as a local driving legend!
