HARRINGTON, DE – Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes action for 3-year-olds completing the first of two $20,000 legs will headline the June 12-14 week of live racing at Harrington Raceway.
A trio of divisions for male pacers will battle on Monday, while filly pacers will compete on Tuesday and both sexes of trotters will be in action Wednesday.
Gty Stable’s Gaitway Guy (7/5, Corey Callahan) heads the male pacers after a 7-for-7 freshmen season for trainer Jeff Smith. The Delmarvalous gelding is the favorite in the second division. Winter meet late closer winner Night Terror (7/5, Allan Davis) is among the formidable contenders for co-owner/trainer Steve Leblanc, and the Badlands Hanover colt has 10 wins already in his career, but will have to overcome post 8 in the 1st division.
A pair of filly divisions highlight the Tuesday June 13 program. Among the contenders are unbeaten pacer Killer Stripes (Badlands Hanover), who is 3-for-3 in her career for trainer and co-owner Andrew Stafford. Stephen Messick’s Misty Coast (7/5, Art Stafford Jr.) earned $116,300 as a 2-year-old and is among the chief contenders as a daughter of Powerful Mist.
Trotters take center stage Wednesday with 2 divisions apiece for males and females. Robert Allison Jr.’s Perfect Twenty (Victor Kirby) won both finals as a 2-year-old for trainer Cliff Green. The Yankee Royalty gelding is in the 1st race on the card. His arch rival Kodack Black (Montrell Teague) is in the 2nd split for trainer Clyde Francis and co-owner George Teague Jr. The Kodak Lindy gelding already has 2 wins over the track this year.
Traci-Berry trained Miss Daburg (Pat Berry), a daughter of Anders Bluestone, is among the most improved fillies in this year’s group. She drew the rail in the 1st filly division, featured 4th in the card for co-owner James Craparotta. Another Anders Bluestone-sired filly, Jeff Clark’s She Is Strong (Art Stafford Jr.), heads the 2nd division and was a DSBF final winner as a 2-year-old. Three legs of the pick 5 (races 2-6) will be comprised of DSBF trot eliminations.
There will be two legs of DSBF races before the $100,000 finals are contested July 27 during the Delaware State Fair.
Live racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
