Monticello, NY— E R Shane (Swan For All, Bruce Aldrich Jr) won the $6,500 harness racing Open trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 8).
Believer (Kyle Dibenedetto) was the first to leave the gate. Raceace (Jim Devaux) quickly stole the lead, leaving Believer in second and the 4-5 favorite Chip Chip Conway (Jim Taggart Jr) racing in third as they made it to the first quarter mile pole in :29.4.
Raceace was still in the lead when they passed the half mile mark in 1:00. From the outside, E R Shane rushed to challenge Chip Chip Conway for second. They passed the three-quarter mile in 1:29.3.
Moving around the final turn, E R Shane started to battle Raceace for the lead. From the outside, Cinnamon Stick (Gregory Merton) joined the battle. In a photo finish, E R Shane won the feature by a head over Cinnamon Stick, finishing in 1:59.4. Raceace came in third.

E R Shane is a 9-year-old gelding owned by Bruce Aldrich Jr and trained by Laura Aldrich. He paid $14.20 to win.
