Columbus, Ohio--His backers sent him away as the 2-5 favorite in the $12,000 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association harness racing trot today at Scioto Downs and Bold Strategy (Break The Bank K) didn’t let them down when Eddie Miller guided the veteran 5-year-old trotter to an easy three-length victory over seven others in a time of 1:55.3.
In a race that featured four men and four women Miller put the pedal to the metal when the starter said “go” and they showed the way by the quarter in :27.4. Forever Jesse (Floyd Rhodes) who left from the eight-hole, was parked by the first stanza before he made the front and once there, he was content to show the way by the half in :56.2.
When Forever Jesse headed for the three quarters, he opened up a four-length lead as he zipped by that marker in 1:25 with Bold Strategy in hot pursuit.
Still with a 2-1/4 length lead at the top of the lane Forever Jesse and Floyd Rhodes braced for Eddie Miller and Bold Strategy but they only got a glimpse of him as he trotted by and went on to a three-length triumph. Forever Jesse finished second and Steve Oldford and A Royal Line garnered the show dough.
