Northfield, Ohio — Dontyousayit was sent off as the betting favorite in the $7,500 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association series trot Sunday at Northfield Park and he didn’t let his backers down when Eddie Miller guided the veteran harness racing trotter to a neck victory in 1:56.3.
When the starter turned the field loose four horses went for the lead but after being parked to the quarter in :28 seconds Fingals Wave gained command for driver Don Richards.
Once on the lead they had to contend with Golden Genes (Tyler Angus) who was on the limb and the two raced side by side to the half in :56.4. Eddie Miller and Dontyousayit were comfortable along the pylons behind the leaders and all Miller had to do was wait, which he did and followed the leaders past the three quarters in 1:26.2.
When they rounded the final turn Miller looked for daylight and he found it in the deep stretch, and he hustled his trotter to the lead and at the wire they finished a neck better than Fingals Wave as the timer flashed 1:56.3.
After being parked the entire mile Golden Genes finished two lengths farther back in third place.
