Northfield, Ohio–When the starter said go in the $9,200 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association harness racing trot Saturday evening at Northfield Park, Larry Ferrari sent the 4-5 favorite So Wishful for the lead from the five hole, but the front-end is where Eddie Miller and Son Of Sona were headed for, and they took command in the :29.2 first stanza which left So Wishful on the limb.
Rather than forcing the pace Ferrari was content to travel unhurriedly on the outside as Miller and his trotter passed by the halfway point in 1:00.1.
The two leaders were still side-by-side as the pace quickened and they trotted by the third quarters in 1:28:3 and when they headed for home Son Of Sona drew off by two lengths over his challenger, a margin that So Wishful was unable to make up.
At the wire it was all Son Of Sona as the timer flashed 1:58.4 and despite being hung the entire mile So Wishful finished second. Emerald Chip, who was sixth at the three quarters, rambled home third best for Lauren Harmon.
