Bangor, Maine …. The Campbell brothers controlled the harness racing action at Bangor Raceway on Wednesday (October 30), combining their talents to claim victory in eight of the twelve races programmed, with five tallies notched by big brother Drew and three nabbed by little bro Heath.
Drew’s five-peat was highlighted by a pair of gate-to-wire winners from the Mark Harris roster as DT Petlot (1:57.3-$5.20) and Urika Bluechip (2:00-$2.20) both roared gate-to-wire toward their third wins-in-a-row since joining the lightning hot roster.

The pike route also proved the advantageous path for two more of the elder Campbell’s scores
as he blazed the forward path with Dance The Big Dance (1:57.2-$2.20), who proved 14-lengths the best in her first start from the Alex Richardson stable, and Velocity Sub Z (1:57.4-$3.20), who claimed the 39th victory of his career for owner/trainer Judson Merrill.
Drew Campbell’s lone off-the-pace score came aboard Rocks Fantasy (1:57.2-$14.80), who parlayed an early first-over barrage into a determined 3/4-length margin for owner/trainer Irvin Crews.
Heath Campbell’s night was highlighted by a pair of winners from the Valerie Grondin’s stable when JK Objection (1:54.4-$2.40) blazed to the half in :57.1 before charging home through a stern :57.3 back-half to record one of the fastest wins of the meet. Middle Aged Crazy (1:58.1-$3.80) then joined the stable’s celebration when the 14-year-old son of Yankee Skyscraper scored the 50th win of his career.
KP’s Magic Macy (1:59-$2.40), who was bookended by the Grondin Stable wins, helped to produce Heath Campbell’s hat trick on Wednesday, after joining his other two winners in a gate-to-wire romp around the Queen City oval.
The Campbell brothers remain firmly entrenched atop the Bangor Raceway leaderboard with Drew occupying the top spot boasting 65 top tallies to Heath’s 50 scores. And with just one day of racing remaining on the 2024 Bangor Raceway calendar, the order of finish in the driver’s competition seems secure.
Bangor’s 2024 meet will conclude on Wednesday November 6 with post time scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on closing day.
