Elektra A (Four Starzzz Shark) wired the harness racing field in the Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover with temperatures in the low 20’s.
Elektra A, who finished 2nd as the betting favorite in back to back starts, finally sealed the deal with her victory.
Driver Tim Tetrick blasted off the wings of the starting gate with Elektra A and took command of the race track early. The field remained in single file as Elektra A, the 1/5 betting favorite, carved out all of the race fractions.
The opening quarter was reached in 28 seconds flat. The half was 57.1. Elektra A then buzzed the 3rd quarter in 1:25.2, a 28.1 quarter. Disturbed Hanover raced 1st over up the backstretch. However her bid fell short and she tired. LuLu Rocks remained in the pocket and waited for her cue but was unable to close in on the leader.
Elektra A opened up in the stretch and won by two lengths in 1:52.4. She paced her final quarter in 27.2 and last half in 55.3. She paid $2.40 for the win.
