Monticello, NY— Emma Town Bud (Big Stick Lindy, Pierre Bovay) won the $6,500 harness racing Open trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday (Mar. 20).
Emma Town Bud and Home’n Dry (Bruce Aldrich Jr) battled for the early lead, followed by Itsoneofthose (Alan Schwartz) in third. Home’n Dry had won the battle for first when they got to the first quarter mile in :27.4.
At the half mile in :58.1, Home’n Dry was still in front, Emma Town Bud was racing in second, and Patrick Hanover (Michael Merton) had moved into third. They were still in this position at the three-quarter mile in 1:28.3.
As they made their way down the stretch, Emma Town Bud rushed to steal the lead from the outside, crossing the wire in 1:58.2. Itsoneofthose followed in second and Home’n Dry came in third.

Emma Town Bud is a 7-year-old gelding owned by Nicole Bovay Gurtner and trained by Pierre Bovay. He paid $11.20 to win.
Jim Taggart Jr got a driving double. Anthony Regina and Pierre Bovay got training doubles.
