After taking the early lead away from Thankful No, there was no stopping Eurobond (Love You) in the $39,000 Open Handicap Trot harness racing feature Friday at Yonkers Raceway.
The 8th race main event saw Thankful No (Trond Smedshammer) shoot to the early lead with On Higher Ground (Austin Siegelman) taking the pocket seat. Then Eurobond and driver Matt Kakaley came first-over into a :28 opening quarter mile and went right to the front.
Eurobond led to the half mile in :57.1 and into the backstretch Stormy Kromer (Daniel Dube) came first-over with the co-race favorite with Eurobond, Hillexotic (George Brennan) taking second-over cover by the three-quarters in 1:25.3.
Around the final turn, Brennan took Hillexotic three-wide, but Eurobond and Kakaley had too much momentum and pulled away in the stretch for a two and one-half length triumph in 1:54.2. On Higher Ground was second with Thankful No third.
