East Rutherford, NJ — Eurobond, who was a Kentucky Sire Stakes harness racing champion in 2018 and owns a career mark of 1:50.1, was the top seller at Sunday’s Tattersalls Summer Mixed Sale at The Meadowlands. The 6-year-old stallion sold for $205,000 to Pennsylvania’s Matt Morrison.
A son of French stallion Love You out of the mare True Diva, Eurobond has won five of six starts this season and 17 of 57 lifetime, totaling $361,650 in purses. His 1:50.1 victory in a conditioned race in 2019 at The Meadowlands equaled a world record.
The second-highest seller was 4-year-old male pacer The Greek Freak, who was purchased for $165,000 by Ontario’s Gino Toscani. The gelding, by Captaintreacherous out of Thirty X, was the runner-up in last season’s Pennsylvania Sire Stakes championship. He has won four of 35 career races and $265,394. His victories include an elimination of the Adios and two divisions of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes.
Next on the list was 6-year-old female pacer Tango Dancer N, who sold for $95,000 to Ontario’s Adriano Sorella. The New Zealand-bred mare, by A Rocknroll Dance out of Tango Lady, has won 12 of 45 races and $132,566 since arriving in North America in 2019.
All three horses were consigned by Preferred Equine.
Overall, 78 horses sold for a total of $2.70 million. There was no Summer Mixed Sale in 2020. In 2019, 82 horses sold for $2.08 million.
