Plainville, MA –— There has not been a more dominant horse at the 2021 Plainridge Park meet than Eurobond who on Saturday (July 10) scored another easy harness racing victory in the $25,000 Open Handicap trot to run his winning streak to four.
Despite being handicapped with post eight, Eurobond (Bruce Ranger) left the gate, took the front and led the race every step of the way. While maintaining a roughly 1-1/2 length lead for most of the mile, Eurobond cut fractions of :28.1, :57 and 1:24.4 before heading into the last turn. When they hit the top of the stretch, Eurobond trotted away under no urging whatsoever and won by three open lengths at the beam in 1:53.1.
In only six starts this year, all of which were at Plainridge, Eurobond ($2.80) has won five of them along with purses totaling $53,750 for owners Lindy Farms of Connecticut and Robert Rudolf. Domenico Cecere trains the winner.
Eurobond is entered in the Tattersalls summer mixed sale at the Meadowlands next Sunday (July 18) and will enter the ring as hip number 65.
EUROBOND REPLAY
The second fastest trot of the day came in the $12,500 conditioned event for 6-year-olds and under where Raybarnz (Ivan Davies) played give-and-go with M
agic Bob (Bruce Ranger) for the lead before finally taking control of the race at the three-eighths. From there he stayed on point while the field stacked up in two rows behind him at the 1:26.2 three-quarters. Davies let out the leather off the last turn and Raybarnz scooted home in a brisk :28.2, stopping the clock in 1:54.4 with a four length win.
Raybarnz ($3.20) established a new lifetime mark, knocking off over two full seconds from his former best 1:57.2. The 4-year-old son of Crazed-Tori Hall is owned by Earl Beaman, Kathy Beaman and Shirley Michaud. Ivan Davies also trains the horse.
RAYBARNZ REPLAY
Bruce Ranger, Shawn Gray and Nick Graffam all scored two driving wins on the card.
There was an instant jackpot paid out Saturday after a single unique winning ticket was purchased on the Wicked Hi-5 wager in the ninth race. The combination of 1-5-3-8-9 returned a healthy $28,602.24 for the 20-cent wager.
Racing will resume at Plainridge Park on Monday (July 12) at 4 p.m.
