Monticello, NY— Harness racing driver-trainer-owner Gregory Merton led race favorite Jm`s Delight (Bettor’s Delight) to victory in the $7,200 open pace at Monticello Raceway on Tuesday (Aug. 29).
Out of the gate, Bruce Aldrich Jr. and Hestons Lucky Chip went for the early lead from the middle of the track, with Adam Moeykens and Special Graduate rushing up to challenge them. Gregory Merton took the 1-5 favorite Jm’s Delight to the front as they passed the quarter mile in :28.2.
Jm’s Delight was leading the way by a length with Special Graduate in the pocket spot in second. Hestons Lucky Chip was following closely in third as they made their way past the half mile mark in :58.3.
Jm’s Delight still had an open length over Special Graduate at the three-quarters in 1:27.4. The two favorites were still battling it out as they made their way around the final turn.
Jm’s Delight crossed the wire first in 1:55.3, followed by Special Graduate and Hestons Lucky Chip.

Jm`s Delight, a 7-year-old gelding, is owned, trained, and driven by Gregory Merton of Monticello, New York. He paid $2.70 to win.
