Feeling Sweet (Sweet Lou) was feeling good and won the $18,000 Mares Winners Over/ Select Pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday night (Jan. 18).
She’s Pukka N left with her usual quickness off the gate. Feeling Sweet also left for early race positioning. Feeling Sweet settled, then rushed to the top passing the quarter in :27 flat.
Beyond Words who could not find a seat, was parked out for most of the mile. Driver Mike Cole was able to throttle the speed of Feeling Sweet to the half in :55 seconds flat, a :28 quarter and held an uncontested lead to the three quarters in 1:23.2 (:28.2).
The even odds betting favorite, Shanghai Seelster, shadowed Beyond Words N, who was parked throughout the mile. Shanghai Seelester inherited the first over bid when Beyond Words dipped down to the rail pacing down the backstretch.
In the stretch Feeling Sweet remained confident and won by a length pacing the mile in 1:52.2. She paid $15.60 for the win.

Feeling Sweet is owned by George and Tina Dennis Racing of Wyoming, Delaware and trained by Joe Columbo.
Shanghai Seelster finished second for trainer Ron Burke. Corey Callahan drove. Shes Pukka N saved ground and finished third for trainer Brian Malone. Tony Morgan drove.
Allan Davis and Corey Callahan drove 3 winners each on the betting card.
Racing continues on Thursday at Bally’s Dover. The feature race on the card is the Blue Hen Handicap Pace. Headlining the race are Penzance Hanover, Grand Cayman and Bettor Memories.
