Grove City, OH – Two-year-old filly pacers will begin their quest for an Ohio Sires Stakes championship with first leg harness racing action Friday July 15 at Eldorado Scioto Downs. A total of 27 fillies will compete in three divisions, each with a purse of $40,000.
In the first division, More The Merrier (Western Vintage) is the 8-5 favorite. Bucky Troute trains the filly who is looking for her second win of the year. September L Six owns More The Merrier.
The second choice is Lofty Treasure (Beachtree) who finished third in the Next Generation. Tony Hall will drive for trainer Cory Mumford. Lofty Treasure is owned by Frank Chick.
Also looking for her second win of the year is Honey Buzz (Downbytheseaside). The Steve Carter trainee was a winner in her first career start at the Pickaway County Fair in Circleville, Ohio. Tyler Smith will drive the filly for the Randy T Young Stables.
In the second division, Next Generation winner My Red Sea (Downbytheseaside) will look to make it two in a row for trainer-driver Kayne Kaufman. The filly is owned by Redline Racing Stables, Redracer LLC and David Van Dusen.
Boyzcalmecarlwayne (Fear The Dragon) is the second choice at 9-2. Dan Noble will drive for owner-trainer Brian Haynes. The filly was a winner last time out in her second start.
Kassagi (Domethatagain) will also be looking for her second win of the year. The filly is owned by Marjorie Polhamus. Scott Cisco will drive for trainer Dan O’Mara.
In the final division, Chris Beaver owns and trains Onederfulbeach (Beachtrea), the favorite at 5-2. Aaron Merriman will drive the filly who won her only start this year.
Cruise Alert (Yankee Cruiser) and Lioness By The Sea (Downbytheseaside) are the co-second choices.
Brett Miller will drive Cruise Alert, who is owned by Our Three Sons Stable and the Nisonger Stable. Jeff Nisonger is the trainer. Cruise Alert did not hit the board in her first start.
Lioness By The Sea finished third in her only start of the year for trainer Cory Mumford. Tony Hall will drive the filly for owner Frank Chick.
First race post time at Eldorado Scioto Downs is 3:15 PM.
