LEBANON, OH – Preliminary legs of the George 'Red' Owens Memorial Series, for female non-winners of 2 races or $20,000 lifetime, were completed on Sunday (Feb. 14) afternoon at Miami Valley in three $12,000 harness racing divisions. Next Sunday the top nine money winners after two preliminary legs will gather for a $20,000 championship tilt.
Twin Power (Dan Noble) won the quickest division in 1:54.2 over Cruizin The Night (Brett Miller) and Traffic Citation (Kayne Kauffman). The fourth and fifth place finishers in this heat, Big Bad Brenda (Brandon Bates) and Apologize (Sam Widger) also managed to advance to the final. Logan Powell conditions Twin Power for the Rushcreek Stable. The 4-year-old daughter of Mr Apples now boasts three wins and $22,891 heading into the series championship.
Real Rockin Ravi (Noble) was just a tick slower capturing another division in 1:54.3. Bret Schwartz trains the 4-year-old Pet Rock lass who was a terror on the Ohio county fairs circuit in 2020. She was the lone multiple winner in the Owens Series and will likely be favored in the final. Runner up Sweet Sinsation (Trevor Smith) and show finisher Better Days Ahead (Widger) also advanced to next Sunday's $20,000 showdown.
Beach Passage (Trace Tetrick) triumphed in the third split in 1:56.3 over Passion In Blues (Brett Miller) and Dojea Gigi (Mike Peterson). Only the winner, a 4-year-old daughter of Bring On The Beach, earned enough to qualify for the Owens championship.
