Two of the leading harness racing trainers in the sport, Ron Burke and Jenn Bongiorno, have both accepted the rulings against them for positive tests on their horses as reported from Racing Commissions to the United States Trotting Association.
Ron Burke has dropped his appeal in two positive cases, one at Pocono Downs with a $2,500 fine and 30-day suspension. The other at Plainridge Racecourse with a $3,000 fine and 27-day suspension, plus return of the purse money of $37,500. Burke will be allowed to return to racing after April 7, 2024.
Jenn Bongiorno has already served her 15 days in February and was fined $500.
Trainer Ncholas Devita received a $1,000 fine and suspended for 60 days through May 1, 2024, as his horse, One Crazy Guy, was found positive for TCO2 at Yonkers Raceway on Feb. 15, 2024.
