First-over grind works for Scuola Hanover

Scuola Hanover made it 4 wins in a row in capturing the $25,000 Mares Open at Dover Down on Wednesday night.

She’s Pukka N and driver Anthony Morgan blasted off wings of the starting gate and cut fractions of :26.3, :55.2 and 1:23.3 to the three-quarters.

Sunny Dee and Allan Davis sat in the pocket. Scuola Hanover and Art Stafford Jr. grinded first over past the half. Soho Burning Love A shadowed that cover, following second over on the rim.

At the three quarter pole the action picked up as Scuola Hanover drew within a neck of pacesetter She’s Pukka N. They paced the third quarter in 28.2.

In the deep stretch Scuola Hanover overtook the leader and won by a neck in 1:51.2 and paid $6.20 to win. She paced the last quarter in 27.2. She’s Pulkka N fought gallantly to finish second for driver Tony Morgan and trainer Brian Malone. Soho Burning Love A, the 8/5 race favorite, finished third for driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Jim King Jr.

Tim Tetrick won 6 races and Arthur Stafford Jr. won 4 races on the betting card.
