First-over no problem for Eurobound

Despite having to come first-over and get parked out for more than half a mile, Eurobound (Love You) and harness racing driver Corey Callahan were still able to score a mild upset in winning the $20,000 feature trot Friday (Oct. 20) at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

The 7^th race saw JL Cruise (Simon Allard) first on the lead from post six with Keiziesky Hanover (George Napolitano, Jr.) sitting the two-hole trip to the opening quarter mile in :27.2.

Then it was Eurobond and Callahan coming first-over from fifth place but taking their time moving up on JL Cruise as he led the field past the half mile marker in :58.1. Aldebaran Zeus A (Tony Morgan) was following second-over behind Eurobond.

As the field raced down the backstretch, Eurobond, at odds of 5-1, kept marching towards JL Cruise, collaring the race leader by the three-quarters in 1:26.3.

Those two leaders would lock horns around the final turn and raced as a team down the stretch until Eurobond worn down JL Cruise to win by one-quarter of a length in 1:55.1. Kenziesky Hanover was third.

EUROBOND REPLAY

It was the seventh win on the season for Eurobond. The eight-year-old stallion is trained by Per Engblom for the Morrison Racing Stables and paid $12.00 to win.
