With a bold, first-over move from a two-hole trip, Pleaseletmeknow (American Ideal) was able to grind it out against harness racing favorite Greg The Leg in capturing the $32,000 3-5-year-old Open Pace Wednesday (Nov. 8) at Yonkers Raceway.
It was Greg The Leg (Brent Holland) who was first on the lead at the start of the 6th race feature with Pleaseletmeknow and driver Matt Kakley sitting the two-hole trip to the opening quarter mile in :27.3.
The field raced single file to the half mile marker in :57.1. Then in the backstretch, Kakaley exited the two-hole trip and came after Greg The Leg. Following second-over was Fearful Intent (Tyler Buter). Greg The Leg dug in and parked Pleaseletmeknow as those two were noses apart at the three-quarters in 1:25.
Around the final turn the two leaders went at it head and head and neither one would give an inch down the stretch until Pleaseletmeknow came on just enough at the wire to win by a neck over Greg The Leg in 1:53. Fearful Intent was third.
PLEASELETMEKNOW REPLAY
It was the fourth win of the season for Pleaseletmeknow. The four-year-old gelding is trained by Travis Alexander for owner-breeder Fiddlerās Creek Stable and paid $8.20 to win.
