The 6-5 favorite Flemsteen (Explosive Matter, Trevor Smith) won the $25,000 Open Handicap harness racing trot at Hollywood Gaming Dayton Raceway on Saturday (Dec. 9).
Predator And Prey (Josh Sutton) took the early lead out of the gate. Into the turn, Flemsteen and Adamsville Road (Sam Widger) passed the leader. As they approached the first quarter mile in :27.4, Flemsteen had the lead, followed by Adamsville Road in second. Predator And Prey was racing in third.
From the outside, Wildfire Seelster (Dan Noble) rushed up to challenge Adamsville Road for second. Flemsteen was holding on to the lead as they passed the half mile in :56.4 and three-quarter mile in 1:25.1.
Flemsteen held on to the lead to cross the wire first in 1:54.1 by a half a length over Adamsville Road with Smoking Jet (Chris Page) third.

Flemsteen is a 5-year-old gelding trained by Christopher Beaver for owners Christopher Beaver, Bill Manes, and R.B.H. Ventures Inc. He paid $4.60 to win.
Trevor Smith and Brett Miller had driving doubles. Dan Noble and Jeremy Smith had driving triples. Herman Hagerman had a training triple.
