HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Horse Racing Association (PHRA) will offer a unique look into foaling season this February and March in partnership with Delaware Valley University in Doylestown and Whysper Wynd Farm in Chester Springs. Through its live stream ‘foal cams’, the coalition will provide a live look at five expectant mares as they get ready to birth the next generation of champion harness racing racehorses. The PHRA will operate the foal cams from January 29 through the end of March free of charge to view on their website.

Foal cams will be streamed from Whysper Wynd Farm and Delaware Valley University starting Monday, January 29.  The streams will feature a live, uninterrupted look at the five expectant thoroughbred and standardbred mares as they prepare for the arrival of their foals. Viewers will also experience day-to-day interactions between the mares and their caretakers with two mares at Whysper Wynd and three at Delaware Valley University. When the time is right, there will be an opportunity to witness the birth of the next generation of racehorses.

The first mare expected to give birth, Twisted Purpose, is in foal to American Pharoah, the well-known 2015 American Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner. At the time, he was only the second racehorse in history to win all four races. This will be Twisted Purpose’s sixth foal. Information about all five mares is available on the PHRA website.

In addition to the live stream, the PHRA provides breeding basics, videos, interactive polls, and gender reveals. Live foaling season updates will be shared on the PHRA’s Facebook and Instagram.
