Foo Figher N returned victorious from a two-month layoff in a wire-to-wire victory over Open harness racing rivals at Monticello Raceway on Tuesday.
Driver Bruce Aldrich Jr. directed the American Ideal gelding to the front from post seven and rated him through a :27.4 first quarter mile, :57.1 half, and 1:25.4 three-quarters. Masterson (Brandon Parker) pulled first up and gave chase in the third panel, but Foo Fighter remained strong to the finish to win in 1:54.3. Masterson missed by a neck in second, and Nui Ba Den N (Cory Stratton) finished third.
Foo Fighter N entered the race coming off a 59-day break between starts. William Emmons of Farmingdale claimed the eight-year-old on May 8 at Pocono Downs, and new trainer Arthur Green laid the horse up. The gelding is now 14-for-71 in his career and broke the six-figure earnings barrier with the Tuesday win.
