Points North, a 1:49.3 Canadian season’s record-setter this year and Woodbine-Mohawk Preferred harness racing pacer, topped the April 11 Preferred Equine Online Mixed Sale at $140,000 after spirited bidding action.
The high-class pacer by stalwart Somebeachsomewhere became the co-highest priced horse and fourth $100,000-plus seller in just the first four installments of Preferred Equine Online’s mixed sales. He was purchased by Jim Winske after being offered for sale by Preferred Equine Online, agent for Aaron Waxman.
“It never fails,” said sale manager David Reid. “Bring a quality racehorse in good form to auction, and there’s a large audience of buyers ready to act. From the time bidding opened, there were 42 bids on Points North from 14 separate entities.”
Reid pointed out that Points North is likely another online sale grad whose success will continue. “The thing about our online sales I’m most pleased about — aside from the excellent participation in them — is the fact that we’ve sold 12 racehorses online that have already won 16 races for their new owners in the past month.
“People are ‘all-in’ and confident about both selling and buying good horses here on our transparent platform.”
This just-concluded sale featured 30 hips, half of which were racehorses. The other offerings included broodmares, stallion shares and 2022 breedings. From the 15 racehorses cataloged 13 were sold, with the two not meeting reserves still available on a “make offer” basis.
The next mixed sale on tap for PEO is in two weeks. For information about the April 25 sale, or to enter horses, visit here.
