Preferred Equine Online’s second mixed sale on Monday afternoon (March 14) turned out to be every bit as
successful as the first, as the well-bid auction was highlighted by another $100,000-plus seller. (See complete sale results at preferredequineonline.com/.
The Australian standout and Yonkers and Hawthorne Open pacer Braeview Bondi A, consigned by Doug Overhiser through Preferred Equine Online, was purchased by Dan Lagace of Ontario for $116,000. The son of Somebeachsomewhere has finished first or second in half his 30 North American starts and sports earnings of more than $130,000.
Four more of the sale’s 33 lots — each a trotter — sold for $50,000, $50,000, $48,000 and $48,000.
In all, 30 horses cleared for a sale gross of $653,550 and average of $21,785.
Racehorses were — as usual — in high demand, accounting for more than $616,000 of gross sales and an average of $30,837.
“The sale and the participation was solid throughout, and the new platform has been well-received by all,“ said Preferred’s David Reid. “We’ve had many compliments and I thank our sellers, buyers and our staff for helping Preferred Equine Online get off to such an outstanding start.”
Reid said three more online sales are in the pipeline, each two weeks apart, on March 28, April 11 and April 25.
