The annual Kids Day set the pace for the second half of the 2024 harness racing season at Clinton Raceway. The morning began with the 2nd Annual Open House, giving fans new and experienced the chance to check out the happenings at the racetrack from behind the scenes.

Well attended, the guests were able to tour the paddock, had the chance to get up close and personal with retired Standardbred Mr. Yokassippi, call a horse race with announcer Tim, and even use Virtual Reality to drive a racehorse, thanks to the Bill Galvin Drive to Win Experience.

For the afternoon the kids had crafts, face painting, bouncers and more, keeping them busy on a very hot Sunday afternoon (July 14) at the Huron County Oval. The Huron Heat Female Hockey Association held the days trackside fundraiser. With great support from the organization, community and fans on track, they were able to raise just over $6500 during the afternoon romp for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

On track, Clinton’s leading dash winning driver Travis Henry, notched another four wins on the 10-race card, visiting the winners circle in races two, five, eight and nine.

The fourth race on the days card featured the third leg of the Prospect Series. Seven three-year-old colt trotters faced off for the $8000 purse. It was a gate to wire finish in 2:01.3 for the post time favourite Buttinski, driven to victory by Todd Ratchford.

Racing resumes next Sunday, July 21 with the 9th edition of the Vic Hayter Memorial Trot. Featuring a fundraiser for the Stratford Perth Humane Society. Little Tracks Petting Zoo will be in the park from 1-4pm. More details on all the seasons events can be found at www.clintonraceway.com.
