Four first-time series winners in BSS third leg

Grove City, OH – Four horses claimed their first Buckeye Stallion Series win of 2025 as Eldorado Scioto Downs hosted four $20,000 divisions of the third leg for sophomore filly trotters as part of a 16-race card on Wednesday (July 9).

Rose’s Destiny wins the fourth division of the third leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for 3-year-old filly trotters on Wednesday (July 9) at Eldorado Scioto Downs.

Rose’s Destiny posted the fastest time among those four winners, as Luke Hanners drove her to victory in a lifetime-best 1:54 in the fourth division. The Tami Hartman trainee was first up and in third place as Up (Chris Lems) led at the :27.3 quarter. Rose’s Destiny took the lead just past the quarter pole and led the rest of the way with fractions of :56.2 and 1:25.2. The Muscle Up The Goal filly pulled away down the final stretch to win by four lengths. First-leg winner Up was second followed by Tankfullaluck (Brett Miller) in third. Rose’s Destiny has hit the board in six of 11 seasonal starts with two wins. She has $53,080 in lifetime earnings and is owned by Hartman and Karen Zapata.

Iwillmakeuproud As won the first division in 1:55.3 with Dan Noble in the sulky for trainer Anette Lorentzon. The Lionhunter filly has hit the board in all three BSS legs this season, adding a runner-up finish in the opening leg and a third-place showing in leg two. Iwillmakeuproud As left from the rail and settled in third as Deetz Lighting (Austin Hanners) led at the :27.4 quarter and :57.2 half. She moved first up at the halfway mark and took the lead going to the 1:26.1 three-quarters. Fervor (Tyler Smith) challenged on the outside down the stretch, but Iwillmakeuproud As held on to win by a half length. Miss Side Gig (Kayne Kauffman) was third. Iwillmakeuproud As has hit the board in four of six starts this season with two wins. She has $41,840 in lifetime earnings and is owned by ACL Stuteri AB.

Miller drove Countn On Cc to victory in the second division in a lifetime-best 1:56.4. The Miles Wollam trainee was fourth at the :27.4 quarter before moving first up and challenging Thelastlioness As (Noble) for the lead at the :57.1 half. Thelastlioness As led by a quarter length at the 1:26.3 three-quarters but got a strong challenge from Countn On Cc on the outside and Sweet Rose’ (Lems) in the passing lane down the stretch. In a photo finish, Countn On Cc edged Thelastlioness As by a head with first-leg winner Sweet Rose’ in third. Countn On Cc has hit the board in four of six starts this season with two wins. The Full Count filly has $37,150 in lifetime earnings and is owned by Bob Troyer.

Long Armof Justice won the third division in a lifetime-best 1:54.3 with Trevor Smith driving for Mark Winters. The Long Tom filly was fifth at the :27.4 quarter and :57.4 half. Second over past the halfway point, Long Armof Justice moved into fourth place at the 1:25.2 three-quarters before making a late rally. Smith took her into the passing lane, and she closed strong, edging Travel Nurse (Miller) by three-quarters of a length. Aunt Lilly (Kauffman) was third. Long Armof Justice has two wins in 10 starts this season. She has hit the board in 12 of 27 lifetime starts with eight wins and $45,262 in earnings. She is owned by Winters, Ronald Glover, Jeremy McGraw, and Mitchell Bean.

The Buckeye Stallion Series returns to Eldorado Scioto Downs on Thursday (July 10) with five $20,000 divisions in the opening leg for 2-year-old filly trotters as part of a 15-race card starting at 5:45 p.m.
