Lit De Rose (Leader Bayama) established herself as the top pacing mare at Yonkers Raceway with her fourth straight harness racing victory Friday (Dec. 9) evening, winning the $33,000 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap.
Trained and driven by Pat Lachance, Lit De Rose was the overwhelming 1/5 race favorite in the 8th race feature and went right to the lead from post three.
Lucky Artist (Braxten Boyd) also left off the starting gate and took the lead from Lit De Rose and Lachance then sent his mare right back to the front at the opening quarter mile in :28.
They race single file to the half mile in :58 before Uptown Hanover (Jason Bartlett) came first-over heading to the backstretch with Delitfulcatherin N (Austin Siegelman) second-over.
Lit De Rose had no issues as Uptown Hanover worked her way up towards the leaders at the three-quarters in 1:26.1 and hung gamely on the outside as the field turned for home. But Lit De Rose proved to be too much on the front end and went on to win by one and one-quarter lengths in 1:54.1. The pocket-sitting Lucky Artist A was second with Uptown Hanover third.
LIT DE ROSE REPLAY
It was not only the fourth straight win for the seven-year-old Lit De Rose, but her eighth triumph of the year. She is owned and was bred by Guy Corbeil of Mirabel, Quebec and paid $2.60 to win.
