Yonkers Raceway hosted two $33,000 Open Handicap co-feature harness racing trots Thursday, Nov. 10, one for the horses and one for the fillies and mares.
The first on the card was the 2nd race for the horses where Stormy Kromer (Dejambro) and driver Daniel Dube went down the road from post three and could not be caught.
They cut fractions of :27.3, :56.1 and 1:53.2, holding off a late closing race favorite Amigo Volo (Tyler Buter) by one length in 1:53.2. The pocket-sitting Focus Pocus (Jason Bartlett) was third.
It was the 11th win on the year for Stormy Kromer. The eight-year-old gelding is trained by Paul Stafford for owner Thomas Ceraso, Jr. He paid 6.30 to win.
STORMY KROMER REPLAY
The 8th race trot for the fillies and mares saw the race favorite Grey (Charlie De Vie) and driver George Brennan also go down the road, this one from post six, in wiring the field.
Grey shot right to the lead from post six, led by two lengths at the quarter in :27.3 with Dreamonhigh, the lone three-year-old filly in the field, sitting the pocket trip for driver Jason Bartlett.
Grey led to the half mile in :56.3 as Queen Of All (Jim Marohn, Jr) came first-over with Hey Livvy (Jordan Stratton) second-over as the field raced three-in, three-out to the three-quarters in 1:25.
As they came down the stretch, Grey was able to hold off Dreamonhigh to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.3. Plumb (Braxten Boyd) was third.
GREY REPLAY
It was the third straight win and sixth of the year for Grey, who is trained by Travis Alexander for the Joe P Racing, LLC and paid $5.70 to win.
