Freehold, NJ – After donating $2,000 last week at Freehold Raceway to HABCORE a local Veterans charity, the American Harness Driver’s Club (AHDC) got back to harness racing action on Saturday (11/26) at the New Jersey oval.
John Calabrese wasted no time getting the festivities started by sending Allindotime (Andover Hall) to the lead from the rail and not relinquishing that advantage for the entire mile. After soaring past the quarter in 28:4 and handing a parking ticket to Southwind Frost (Bob Hechkoff), Allindotime rated all identical 30 second splits for the remained of the mile and was never really challenged at any point of the race tripping the teletimer in 1:58:4.
J S Peyton (Jake Stillwell) rode a nice rail trip to get up at the wire and nip Call Me Thefireman (Tony Verruso) for the place spot.
Allindotime, a 7-year-old gelding, is owned by Alma Iafelice and is trained by William MacKenzie. The bettors were sharp handicapping this one as Allindotime was sent off the favorite returning $4.40 for the top spot.
ALLINDOTIME REPLAY
Paul Minore was obviously paying attention to the front-end bias of the first heat and replicated that game plan with his mount in the second AHDC event with Fusion Power (Duke Of York).
After Overnight Shipper, the rail horse broke behind the gate, Fusion Power inherited the inside position and also never gave up that advantage at any point of the race. He too was handing out a parking ticket and Natural Kemp (Tony Beltrami) was the unfortunate recipient of this one.
Parked the entire mile, he did put in a game effort but was unable to overtake the front runner. My Bigadil Klac (Mike Polansky) who sat a perfect pocket trip looked poised to storm past the leader in the stretch, but he could only pass Natural Kemp to take the place position as Fusion Power was much the best holding off all contenders by a length and three-quarter margin in 1:59:4.
Fusion Power, a 13-year-old gelding, is owned and trained by Tom Lail. The public wasn’t as sharp in this one as Fusion Power returned a hefty $41.00 from post 2.
