Last to first for Lovedbythemasses

Lovedbythemasses circled the field from dead last and won the $25,000 Open Handicap Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday night.

The 9/5 betting favorite, JL Cruze carved out fractions of :27.2, :57.1 (:29.4) and 1:25.1 (:28.1).

Northern Express grinded 1st up past the half. Crystal Fashion followed 2nd over on the rim. Yanks Dugout followed 3rd over but stalled in his bid.

Lovedbythemasses and driver Tim Tetrick maneuvered off the rail from dead last at the top of the stretch.

Lovedbythemasses unleashed a wicked, 5 wide brush and won by a half-length in 1:53.3. He trotted the last quarter in :27.1 and an individual last half in :55.1.

The judges declared a 1 second weather allowance due to the 30-degree temperatures. He paid $9.00 for the win.

11-year-old JL Cruze cut all the race fractions and finished 2nd for trainer Eric Ell and driver Art Stafford Jr.
