Highland Mowgli (Archangel) mowed down the harness racing competition in the $19,000 Winners Over/ Select Handicap Trot at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday night (Jan. 31).

Driver Ross Wolfenden left alertly with Highland Mowgli from mid pack and forced the outside leavers, GingerTree Skyr and Quiksilvr Bluechip to take seats entering the quarter.

Ginger Tree Skyr settled into the pocket and Quiksilvr Bluechip, who left from post 8, settled into third on the rail.

Skyway Bebop braved a quarter pole move, unsuccessfully and was parked the mile by Highland Mowgli.

Highland Mowgli intimidated the field as he set fractions of :28 to the quarter, the half in :56.2, a :28.2 quarter and the three quarters were passed in 1:24.4, a duplicate, :28.2 quarter.

Muscle Dynasty launched a three wide blitz around a tiring Skyway Bebop down the backstretch. Highland Mowgli, the 1/5 betting favorite, drew off in the stretch and won by a punishing four and a quarter lengths in 1:53.4 over the wet racing surface.  He paid $2.60 for the win.

HIGHLAND MOWGLI REPLAY

Highland Mowgli is trained by Ron Burke and owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC both of PA.  Ginger Tree Skyr raced in the pocket but could not gain on the leader and finished 2nd for trainer Nick Callahan and driver Corey Callahan. Muscle Dynasty finished 3rd for trainer Shea Lare and driver Art Stafford Jr.

Ross Wolfenden scored three driving wins on the betting card.

Incaseyoudidntknow, Majorca N and Divine Deo headline the Mares Open Pace on Wednesday at Bally’s Dover.

Post time at Bally’s Dover is 4:30 pm.
