Hall of Fame harness racing journalist and Harnesslink columnist, John Berry, joins Freddie, Trade and Bob on this week’s Harness Racing Alumni Show.
John and Freddie share some of the history of harness racing starting with the founding of Yonkers Raceway in 1899 by William Clarke. Then they discuss the purchase of Yonkers by James Butler and the sale of Yonkers by the Butler family.
John and Fred also talk about the introduction of the starting gate and the first incident involving the gate along with drivers of the past and thoughts on some of this year’s racing stars, Karl and Captains Quarters.
