Let It Ride N benefitted from a 2nd over trip and won the $32,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at Dover Downs on Thursday night.
Movin’ On Up and Penzance Hanover were quickest off the gate, pacing to the quarter pole. Movin’ On Up cleared the lead at the quarter and set fractions of :27, :54.3 (:27.3) and 1:22:3 (:28) over a track listed as good.
Sprocket and Pat Berry sprinted down the backstretch and drew along side of pace setter Movin’ On Up at the three quarters. The 3/5 betting favorite, Let It Ride N followed with perfect cover 2nd over and on the rim. He was able to wear down Movin” On Up late in the stretch and won under wraps.
Let It Ride N (Rock N Roll Heaven) won by two and a quarter lengths in 1:50.3. He paid $3.40 for the win. He is owned by William A. Hartt, ME and Enzid Racing Stables Inc. of NJ. R. Nifty Norman trained and Victor Kirby drove. Movin’ On Up cut the mile and finished 2nd for trainer Chuck Crissman Jr. Tim Tetrick drove. Penzance Hanover sat in the pocket and finished 3rd for trainer and driver Art Stafford Jr.
