Dreaming Of Lou (Sweet Lou), a 17-1 long shot delivered the harness racing upset in the $27,500 Blue Hen/ Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday night (March 21).
Driver Tim Tetrick and Dreaming of Lou blasted off the wings of the starting gate parking out Maximus Miki and a three wide Penzance Hanover approaching the quarter.
Penzance Hanover, who won four consecutive races, cleared the lead passing the opening quarter in :26.4. Penzance Hanover confidently led the field of quality open pacers to the half in :55.1, a :28.2 quarter.
Iwannabewithyou sprinted first over down the backstretch. Maximus Miki, the 4/5 betting favorite, countered with a second over trip on the rim. Jack’s Shadow N continued third over on the outside. All were in pursuit of Penzance Hanover, who continued on an uncontested lead, reaching the three quarters in 1:22.4, a :27.3 kicker.
Dreaming Of Lou waited patiently in the pocket and surged along the pylons late to win by three quarters of a length in 1:50.3. He paid $37.80 for the victory.

Dreaming Of Lou is owned by Jo Ann Looney-King of Harrington, Delaware. Jim King Jr trains. Penzance Hanover fought hard but finished second. Maximus Miki finished third.
