WASHINGTON, PA, July 31, 2024 — It may have been only her second harness racing victory in 54 career starts, but it was a thing of beauty when Gamine (Artspeak-Lu Lu Q) overpowered the field first over and captured Wednesday’s co-feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $10,900 Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace.
Gamine was fourth when she unleashed a backside burst for Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. that propelled her past the leader, Coco Chia. The 4-year-old mare widened her advantage from there, scoring in a lifetime best 1:52.3. Lorraine J chased the winner home to finish second, 4-1/4 lengths back, while Made It was third. Dean Collins owns and trains Gamine. It was nearly one year to the day (Aug. 2, 2023) that Gamine won her last race.
GAMINE REPLAY
In Wednesday’s other $10,900 co-features:
- Sonic Boomer, the 1-9 favorite, lived up to expectations in a Stallion & Gelding Conditioned Trot, seizing the early lead, working out a leisurely 58.3 opening half and cruising home in 1:56.2 for Mike Wilder, trainer Randy Bendis and owner Randy Carlyle. The victory margin was 5-1/2 lengths.
- Cinnamon Crisp demolished the field in a Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace by 10-1/4 lengths in 1:53.3, fastest win of her career. Wrenn drove the 3-year-old filly for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Dave Palone piloted four winners on the 13-race card, including a pair for trainer Johnny Yoder, while Wrenn fashioned a three-bagger.
