Get Lit storms to a seasonal best

Get Lit (Sweet Lou, Jim Taggart Jr.) and Nextroundsonme (Cantab Hall, Wally Hennessey) grab harness racing co-features at Tioga Downs on Sunday (August 7).

Get Lit ($29.00) charges late to capture the $13,000 Open Pace.

Agedchedar Hanover (Brandon Parker) grabbed the early lead but JB Mauney N then took over just before hitting the quarter first in :27.3.  Rebellious (Wally Hennessey) took the lead with a lap to go.  He was first to the half in :56.4.  Get Lit came first-up going down the backstretch.  The two pacers went shoulder to shoulder all the way to the final turn.  Rebellious had a short lead to three-quarters in 1:23.4.

As they made the turn for Get Lit took control.  Second place finisher JB Mauney N came charging late but could only watch as Get Lit won in a seasonal best of 1:52.2.  Hard Rock Hulk (Aaron Byron) came up to finish third.

GET LIT REPLAY

Get Lit is a 5-year-old gelding by Sweet Lou.  He is owned by Megan Beauchamp and trained by Bruce Clarke.  It was his second win this season and his 12th career victory.

Nextroundsonme ($3.70) takes the $12,000 Open Trot.

Golden Kronos (Jim Taggert Jr.) was first to the quarter in :28.3.  Nextroundsonme went right on by heading to the stands for the first time.  He was first to the half in :57.4 and first to three-quarters in 1:26.0.

As they made the turn for home Golden Kronos popped the pocket but couldn’t get close as Nextroundsonme won easily in 1:54.4.  Can’t Say No (Braxten Boyd) came flying late to finish second.  Crossfit Mouse (Corey Braden) was third best.

NEXTROUNDSONME REPLAY

Nextroundsonme is a 6-year-old gelding by Cantab Hall.  He is owned by Jose Cervantes and trained by Jenny Melander.  It was his fifth win of 2022.  He now owns 22 career victories.

Mike Merton and Jim Taggert Jr. and had driving triples on the day.  Kevin Reynolds Jr. had a training double.

Tioga Downs returns to Live racing on Friday (August 12) starting at 6:15 p.m.
