DAYTON, OH – Harness racing driver Trevor Smith leaped into third place in the dash standings at the recently commenced Hollywood Dayton Raceway meet on Friday (Sept. 18).
The upstart reinsman scored four consecutive wins from the eighth through eleventh races, giving him nine through the first five days (including the Montgomery County Fair staged at Dayton) of the 75-day 2020 meet.
Brett Miller, the early dash derby leader, also notched four wins on the night, giving him fifteen thus far. Runnerup Jeremy Smith, nine wins to date, managed a hat trick on the program as the three early meet leaders dominated the Friday action.
Smith's consecutive triumphs started with The Dark Shadow (1:51.1, $2.80) followed by Canadia's Bacon (1:53, $22.60), Letme Fly Low (1:53.4, $5) and Rocking Zoe (1:53.2, $6). Trevor also steered four runnerup finishers on the card, including the two races immediately following his natural Grand Slam.
Racing continues on Saturday night (Sept. 19) with a 6:15 p.m. post time, then takes a hiatus in deference to Little Brown Jug Week at the Delaware, Ohio fairgrounds before resuming the regular five-times-a-week schedule on Friday, Sept. 25.
