The grey faced harness racing mare, H H Tracy who stirred up more than 30,000 lookers on the Standardbred Retirement Foundation's (SRF) Facebook page has arrived safely at Walnut Hall Limited.
When the SRF posted the very sad photo of the 29-year-old mare, many people stepped up with help, comments, and compassion. Of the wonderful people were Meg Jewitt and Alan Leavitt of Walnut Hall Farm in Ky. who among other help, offered the broken hearted mare a place to live her remaining days, rather than ship to Canada for slaughter.
While waiting for a ride from Pa. to Ky. she seemed to have given up; she was not eating and was lethargic. She will receive the best of care, which started the moment she arrived when Alan Leavitt and his farm manager quickly tended to her needs. (Alan Leavitt in the blue jacket in the photo.)
SRF is grateful for the caring people and especially Walnut Hall for giving this grand old mare dignity in her remaining days.
