Hambletonian Society issues staking payment reminder

Cranbury, NJ — The initial payment deadline for eligibility to more than 161 harness racing stakes events at 13 different tracks, headlined by the 100th Anniversary of the Hambletonian at The Meadowlands on August 2 and the $7 million Breeders Crown events on Oct. 24 and 25, is fast approaching.

Payments for all Hambletonian Society serviced stakes are due on February 15, and must be postmarked by midnight on Tuesday (Feb. 18) due to a weekend and a federal holiday (Presidents Day), per USTA Rule 12.02.

WHAT’S NEW?

The $50,000 (est.) The Catholic Cowboy Series race for 3-Year-Old Colt & Filly Trotters & Pacers. They will be raced on Friday, November 7 at Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Anderson, IN.

WHAT’S MOVED?

The 3-Year-Old Dexter Cup & Lady Suffolk, the two trots have moved to The Meadowlands from Freehold Raceway and will be raced on Saturday, May 3rd in divisions.

THE $7M USD BREEDERS CROWN – 42nd Anniversary

The Breeders Crown will be celebrating its 42nd birthday at Woodbine Mohawk Park on October 24 & 25. The Crown continues to enjoy robust participation from all segments of the industry and the guaranteed purses for 2025 reflect that.

A win in the Jim Doherty Memorial (2CT) or Peter Haughton Memorial (2FT) gives you Breeders Crown options for those same divisions.

The winner of the 2025 Hoosier Cup (Indiana-sired 3-year-old pacers) at Harrah’s Hoosier Park will receive an automatic nomination to the 2025 Jenna’s Beach Boy.

As a reminder the Stallion Restriction Condition at The Meadowlands affects 2022 foals. Please check The Meadowlands website for the full Stallion restrictions applicable to the Cane Pace, Shady Daisy and Tompkins-Geers 3-year-olds, as well as the Reynolds 2-year-olds and 3-year-old trotters BUT not the 3-year-old pacers at Plainridge Racecourse and not the 2-year-old Tompkins-Geers at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

The payment schedule dates are unchanged. Current racing conditions for the races we service can be found on our website under each specified race page or on the USTA.

In all cases only ONE check is necessary for each of the four payment periods i.e., February 15, March 15, April 15, May 15 or August 15 (Yearling Supplement).
