East Rutherford, NJ – Entries have been taken for the “Greatest Day in Harness Racing“, Hambletonian Day, Saturday, August 3 and the stars of harness racing are aligning to appear at The Meadowlands on that afternoon.
The $1,050,000Ā HambletonianĀ and $525,000Ā Hambletonian Oaks went through the elimination process last Saturday and those field are known. Only the post positions remain a mystery and those will be decided this afternoon at the Hambletonian draw.
The supporting stakes are a key element in what is regarded to be the best card of the entire racing season and this yearās lineup continues that level of excellence.
The sophomore pacers will compete in the Triple Crown Cane Pace featuring Meadowlands Pace winner Legendary Hanover among a short field of five and Caviart Belle is the most accomplished of the eleven in the Shady Daisy.
The Sam McKee Memorial shapes up great with a full boat of eleven headed by current division leader Abuckabett Hanover who will seek to sweep the Meadowlands FFA stakes triumvirate while the Lady Liberty (ten entered) is the stage for another round in the sportās most enduring rivalry between Twin B Joe Fresh, also looking to run the table, and Sylvia Hanover.
On the trotting side, Winnerās Bet graduates to open company in the Cashman Memorial where heāll find powerhouses including Jiggy Jog S and Southwind Tyrion waiting among a full field of eleven. M-Mās Dream heads up the ten mare Dr. John Steele tribute with Bond set to make her seasonal debut and Special Way also advancing to open company.
