Having to start from the outside in post 8 was no problem for Spitfire Oversees (International Moni), who notched his third straight score with a tough victory in the $34,000 Open Handicap Trot Monday (March 11) at Miami Valley Raceway.

The 7th race feature began with Herecomescharlie B (Austin Hanners) going to the early lead, but by the opening quarter mile in :27.2, race favorite Spitfire Oversees and driver Brett Miller were on the move on the outside and took over command of the race.
With no one challenging, Spitfire Oversees cut the mile to the half in :56.2. Then in the backstretch, Scorecard Dan (John De Long) came first-over from fourth place, giving Don’t Take My Keys (Ryan Stahl) some live second-over cover.
To the three-quarters in 1:23.4, Spitfire Oversees continued to lead the way with Scorecard Dan coming on the outside. After rounding the final turn, Spitfire Oversee maintained his lead down the stretch with Scorecard Dan coming on late, but too late as Spitfire Oversees held on to win by a head in 1:53.1. Don’t Take My Keyes was third.
SPITFIRE OVERSEES REPLAY
It was the fourth victory on the year for Spitfire Oversees. The four-year-old ridgling is trained by Stacey Van Hulzen for Thestable Spitfireovrsees and paid $3.80 to win.
