Some of the best male sophomore pacers on the continent meet in the $300,000 Carl Milstein Memorial Invitational in Grand Circuit harness racing action from Northfield Park tonight (Aug. 12).
Here is my full analysis of this stacked card of racing and multi-race tickets.
Best Bet ā (5) CLEVER CODY ā Race 8
Spot Play ā (7) BRONX SEELSTER ā Race 6
$1 Pick 4 ā Race 2 ā 1,2/1,2,4,5/2,9/2 = $16
$1 Pick 5 ā Race 6 ā 1,2,3,7/2,5,6,7/5/1/3,7,8 = $48
$1 Pick 4 ā Race 8 ā 5/1/3,7,8/1,4 = $6
$1 Pick 4 ā Race 12 ā 3,4,7/1,2,4,9/2,7/4 = $24
Race 1 ā 2-6-5-7-9
(2) HOBBS gets post relief and he picks up Dexter Dunn in the bike tonight. I see him getting a similar trip as he did two starts back when he won and he gets top billing to kick off the card.
Race 2 ā 1-2-3-4
This race will likely be dominated by the two Scioto shippers that drew inside and the rail horse, (1) M AMADEUS gets top billing.
Race 3 ā 4-5-1-2
(4) MO BAY was given an aggressive steer to win by Davis Jr. last week and he gets the return drive here. Iāll give this gelding the call to repeat.
Race 4 ā 2-9-5-1
(2) TJ’S INDY PACER was first up in a fast race last time now he draws much better. He is the one to beat starting from an inside post.
Race 5 ā 2-1-3-4
(2) SHNITZLEDOSOMETHIN got pressured every step in some wild fractions in the slop last time and he still hung around for 3rd. He figures to get a better trip tonight and he gets top billing.
Race 6 ā 7-1-2-3
(7) BRONX SEELSTER raced well from this post last week now he gets Wrenn Jr. in the bike. He could be a value play here starting from the outside.
Race 7 ā 5-6-7-2
(5) OBERTO has been facing some tough ones at Scioto and he should get a setup for his late kick in this spot.
Race 8 ā 5-3-1-7
(5) CLEVER CODY is razor-sharp and the clear one to beat in this Ohio Sires Stakes division. He will be a Pick 4 and Pick 5 single for me.
Race 9 ā 1-4-3-5
(1) IT’S ACADEMIC is the clear top aged trotter in the sport currently and he figures to be very hard to beat from the rail tonight.
Race 10 ā 8-7-3-1
(8) BYTHEMISSAL looked terrific winning at The Meadowlands on Hambletonian day. Him drawing widest makes this race interesting, though.
Race 11 ā 1-4-3-7
(1) SEVEN COLORS raced great in the Cane, but the winner is in another stratosphere right now. He was sold privately following that start. Getting the rail and Dunn in the bike tonight, he should be looking to lead all the way in this renewal of the $300,000 Milstein Memorial.
Race 12 ā 3-4-7-8
(3) HUNDRED DOLLAR MAN is the sharpest colt in this race and he should take beating starting from an inside post.
Race 13 ā 1-9-4-2
(1) JOGGING FULL TROT gets major post relief coming off a tough trip and he gets Dave Miller in the bike tonight. Call to upset.
Race 14 ā 2-7-6-91
(2) JUST BOOKEM gets Wrenn Jr. back in the bike tonight and that can be the difference make in an evenly matched field.
Race 15 ā 4-1-5-9
(4) MOVED BYTHE SPIRIT is razor sharp right now coming in off two strong efforts. He is the clear one to beat.
