Harness Analyst – Meadowlands 2nd June

Tonight’s 13-race harness racing card kicks off at 6:20 p.m., and it features the New Jersey Sires Stakes Finals for sophomore trotters. The colts and geldings square off in Race 7, and the fillies tangle in Race 9. Here are my selections and multi-race tickets.

BEST BET: (1) SPECIAL WAY – Race 9

SPOT PLAY: (3) POSH ONTHE BEACH A

20-Cent Pick 5 – Race 1: 3,4,6,7/1,3,6/1,4/1,6,7/4 = $14.40

50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 6: 2,5/5,6,7/1,2,5,9/1= $12

50-Cent Pick 4 – Race 10: 1,3,6,7/3,7/3,8/1,3,5 = $24

Race 1 – 4-6-3-7

Anything goes in the opener which is an Amateur Drivers race to kick off the 15% takeout Pick 5. I’ll side with (4) CAL MILES N SHELL who has been doing well in these races at Freehold and has a style that should work well on the big track.

Race 2 – 1-6-3-7

(1) ULTIMATE FLYER N brings good form with him from Freehold and he should get an aggressive Biongiorno steer. He has a good chance here starting from the rail.

Race 3 – 4-1-2-3

(4) CHILLIN BYTHE POOL faces much easier tonight and driver Miller will likely make an earl move to the front and look to control this race.

Race 4 – 1-6-7-4

With no standouts in this race, I’ll side with (1) CADILLAC MOON who gets a key driver change to Tetrick and the rail to work from tonight.

Race 5 – 4-2-3-9

(4) MOONWARDS HANOVER comes off a nice closing effort abd he gets Joseph Lee in the bike tonight, which is a positive change. I’ll single him in the cash leg of the 20-cent Pick 5.

Race 6 – 2-5-3-6

(2) MCMARKLE SPARKLE made two moves and just missed last week in a good effort, and she has really turned up her late speed in her past two starts. I’ll give her the slight nod here in a small but contentious field.

Race 7 – 6-7-5-3

Nice field of sophomore trotting colts line up here in the $240,000 New Jersey Sires Stakes final. I’ll side with (6) AIR POWER who has come back much faster at three and will be very tough if he repeats last week’s mile that featured a :54.2 uncovered back 1/2.

Race 8 – 9-1-2-5

(9) ROCKABILLY CHARM has speed and a high percentage driver which is enough for me to land on him in the amateur drivers race.

Race 9 – 1-8-5-9

(1) SPECIAL WAY is a generational talent and its unlikely she will taste defeat in a sires stakes race unless she miscues. I think the value in this race lies underneath with (8) SECRET VOLO rounding out the Exacta.

Race 10 – 7-6-1-3

(7) LEXUS KODY couldn’t have looked much better last week. He steps into the deep end now, but intent is questionable for many of them, so I’ll take a shot with him.

Race 11 – 3-7-9-6

(3) GOLDIN GREATNESS missed three weeks, drew poorly, and got a brutal parked out trip last time. His chances improve greatly here moving inside, returning quicker, and getting Dunn back in the bike.

Race 12 – 3-8-5-7

(3) POSH ONTHE BEACH A was well-meant last week but he got shuffled due to mid-race lead changes. He should be blasting again, and he has a good chance vs. these.

Race 13 – 5-3-1-2-4

(5) WIGGLE MY COOKIE comes off a solid effort in the amateur drivers race and Dunn is back on here. He looks best in here.
